What a great!!!!!! book. I didn't want it to end. It was wonderful listening to the. man's point of view. Micah and Nori are the perfect match for each other yet the complete opposite. The build up to them getting together made this story. The great advice that his friend Simon gave him, that's a real friend. Simon sounds delicious too. Shelby Mitchell makes you feel like you are right there, like. you can actually see the characters. I'd love some of Nori's T-Shirts Positive sayings LOVE HAS NO COLOR!!!!!! I like the chemistry between them. Friendship is such a great foundation for love. I like Simon and the boys. Colette is a total case. I think she is why Ms. Blackmon is the cliffhanger in this part. I really hope he figures out that she wouldn't do that to him. Colette is a sociopath and wants geek-boy back. Nice cliffhanger. I didn't see it coming that way. I don't believe the note.
This is the first book I've read by Shelby Mitchell and I was very pleasantly surprised. I'm looking forward to reading more.
At first I was so not seeing how a hot geek was wooing a cook and didn't think I keep turning the pages but I darn sure did! Nori & Micah are just perfect, mix in a lil cray-cray from Micah's ex, & 2 of Micah's hot best friends and you've got yourself a good read.
Love the chemistry and that she's driven and determined but still has a soft touchable spot for Micah & her mom. He is successful and focused in all things except when it comes to Nori.
Anyone that loves romance with some heat in just the right places will love this book.
It is an interesting plot but I had a problem with its development and language. It would have been better for the author to write from her perspective instead of Micah. It sounded like the way a woman would want a man to speak and feel than close to what a man would actually think and feel. Micah came off as a hardcore stalker in the beginning. I liked the story line but I felt like it dragged at all the wrong parts. I would have liked more time dedicated to their connection than Micah inner thought babbling on what he thinks of her. I like the cliff hanger and the fatal attraction edge. Hoping for more in the next book.
I truly enjoy the intellectual voice of the characters. What a great love story with an exciting cliffhanger. Micah and Nori are two complicated characters that were drawn to each other at first sight. He is an emerging alpha hero and she is a strong and lovely nurturing heroine. Together their chemistry is sizzling. Along with the sizzle throughout, the story was engaging and has left me wanting more!! Job well done Shelby Mitchell!! I look forward to more great stories to come. I can't wait for book 2! You have a NEW fan.
I don't write reviews often. But, that being said ... I loved this story and can't wait for Part II! Written with excellent execution; subtle depictions of every day life, and a well organized plot line. Nori is perfect ... not one of these over the top characterizations of what a black woman should be ... but loving and sweet and warm and funny AND powerful and thinking and talented and thinking mixed with fear of rejection and some self doubt about her beauty. Micah (love the name by the way) "Geek Boy" is so real ... a brilliant gaming creator and businessman and humble billionaire without the SHOP corrupted personality and perverted soul that people always want to pin on the rich ... just a normal guy trying to make it in His own world looking for love in the right place ... Nori and holding onto what is most important ... his integrity and love for his woman. Once again, Ms. Shelby creates a character that is very human and doesn't fall into shoddy writing style with one dimensional structure that reads like it should have come from an encyclopedia. He loves him some Nori and is persistent and focused on getting his woman and keeping her. He's an Alpha in all the best aspects because he is willing to sacrifice for the greater cause of being there for Nori without whipping out. All man, all human. The one liners ARE funny! The sex was real ... every move perfect and "innovative" ... it takes one to know one Ms. Shelby! You go girl! Readers ... get this book!
I mean literally! I started reading in bed early morning due to a case of insomnia and was HOOKED from the start! Love that the story is told from his perspective, very refreshing! Even though I knew there would be a cliffhanger I felt dropped off the cliff it happened so quickly! Can't wait for book two and am intrigued to learn Simon's story. I'm also shocked that this is the only story by this author with a black female heroine. I hope this is the beginning of many more from Shelby as I love her humor, intelligence and sassy sexiness in the characters. Well done!
I didn't review the first book but I will go back and also give it 5 stars. I think is a wonderful sensual and heart felt sorry about love between classes and ethicities. The characters were well developed. The plots that they all faced were well designed and not detectable before hand. The chemistry between the Micah and Nori was excellent and blended well with their friends who played outstanding support for the plagued couple. The antagonists were equally believable. I thoroughly enjoyed the two books and look forward to reading more from this writer and hope to read about Simon & Ever as well as Jules & Daring.
